Hey folks;

Oct. 9th, 2004

Hello and welcome to the many new members, we continue to grow each week. As usual you are getting this newsletter because you subscribed. See the link at the end of the newsletter if you no longer want to receive my tips and ramblings...grin... though I hope you do continue to join me.

One reason is to be an automatic member of my membership site once it goes live.

Still working on getting the archives up and should have them available by the next issue. There is only one there right now, but this is the link for the archives page. I have about 30+ to format and load. (Excuse the lack of fancy graphics and all that good stuff, I just haven't decided on an exact format yet.)

Still working on the members area too, so stay subscribed to become a fr-e-e member automatically when that happens. I'm buying rights to more informative material each week for the member site, and I have tons of audio files and stuff I'm adding that will only be available to members.

Ok, onward we tread with the Crazy Web Guy Notes & Newsletter: :-)

Ivan the terrible

As I was intitially doing research looking for utilities for this issue a couple of weeks ago, Ivan the hurricane was hitting the Gulf Coast. Our daughter and son in-law live in Pensacola Florida. It's really hard to write (type that is) when you are jumping between Fox News and the Weather Channel with a remote in one hand and your head nodding from lack of sleep at 4:00 AM.

I eventually fell asleep that night (well morning) sitting up doing the same and didn't get much research done needless to say. I can gladly say we heard from our daughter by phone the next day (very brief) to say they were ok, however they didn't know at that point if their home and personal things are intact or not since they had been evacuated to a shelter and hadn't been able to go home yet.

Thankfully they finally got to go home and found most everything intact. They did go without power for about a week but all things considered they came out much better than many or even a majority of the people in the area.

Our prayers are with all those still recovering from the devastation from all of the storms hitting Florida and costal states the past few weeks and months.

Check out this new search engine, nice options, clean user interface and more.
Do a keyword search such as marketing for example and check out the related searches in the right hand blue column box.

This could also be another tool for finding good keywords for your products.

URLinfo
This site has all kinds of useful tools.

Each TAB menu item opens another set of options for that specific menu item.
The tab style interface has 85+ tools.

For instance, go to the MISC Tab and you can find your page rank, popular words on your page, text analyzer and much more.

Use the LINKS Tab to find: sites linking to your site from Yahoo, Google, Gigablast, and even from popular blogs and much more.

Use the DEVELP Tab to check your HTML code, spelling, keyword density, speed and more.

Be sure to check out this tool:

PRSearch.net

Ok one more tool, and a great one at that for finding page rank, popularity, and page position in Google and Yahoo all on one page:

I find it especially useful when trying to find if my web sites have moved up or been indexed in Google's search engine position.

Just click the Google tab, enter your search term and your site URL then choose how many positions to look down in such as the the first 100, etc.

http://www.prsearch.net

Note: It works best when using Internet Explorer. Not my choice of browsers though.
:-)

But that is the topic of a future article I'm writing...grin...

-----------------------------------

By the way if you are really into search engine techniques or interested in learning much more about improving your search engine optimization methods then check out this course on the topic.

Very in-depth and covers the basics as well as advance techniques.
(Yes this is my affiliate link...grin...)

Pretty amazing the money these guys are making with their sites, that alone is worth the read.

[Article] No article this time, but I am working on an article for helping your search engine ranking and should be in the next issue. I wanted to get this issue out before you forgot who the Crazy Web Guy is...grin...

Do experiment with the tools listed above as they will be listed and used in the article I'm writing.
